Q:
How should an LDN list their
credentials?
A:
LDNs should use the designation LDN after their
name on all professional correspondence, as this is the legal designation for
licensing in the State of Louisiana. In accordance with the Commission on
Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association, the Board
recommends the following order for listing your credentials: name, an
indication of educational attainment if it is used, RD, LDN, followed by other
certifications. The following is given as an example: Jane Doe, MS, RD, LDN,
CDE.

Q: Do
board members receive a salary for serving on the Board?
A: No. Board members serve in
their capacity as board members without compensation but are reimbursed
for necessary expenses incurred while engaged on board business.

Q:
I'm
an LDN, do I have to submit my CE hours to the Board for renewal?
A: The
Commission on Dietetic Registration requires the equivalent of 15 hours of
certified continuing education per year. If you hold a Registered
Dietitian (RD) credential, you may submit a copy of your current CDR card
with your renewal application.

Q:
What are the responsibilities
of the supervisor of a Provisionally Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist?
A:
1.
Provides sufficient guidance and direction to enable a provisional licensed
dietitian/nutritionist to perform competently. Be readily available by
telecommunications or in person. Review the provisional dietitian/nutritionist
quarterly and submit a written report annually to the Board. 2. List the
Provisional Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist on the LDN’s renewal form which
is submitted to the Board office. 3. Notify LBEDN office if you are no
longer supervising the Provisional Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist

Q:
Can several LDNs within an agency share
the supervision of a Provisional Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist?
A:
Yes, each
supervisor should list the names of all Provisional Licensed
Dietitian/Nutritionists that they supervise (full-time or part-time) on their
renewal form that is submitted to the LBEDN office.
One LDN should be designated as the “supervisor of record” and
maintain supervision records.
